The University:
Through The Milwaukee Idea, UWM is redefining what it means to be a university in Wisconsin's thriving economic capital.
The university is focusing on approaches to education that are inclusive, multidisciplinary and marked by excellent research and outstanding
teaching. This research and teaching ranges wide and far, extending to 149 degree programs that serve more than 25,000 students. Through the
School of Continuing Education, another 47,000 people annually complete courses that contribute to their professional or personal growth.
The university's location also places students squarely in one of the state's most dynamic environments. Milwaukee is alive with theaters,
malls, restaurants, museums, professional sports teams, cafes, galleries, parks, concert halls and ethnic festivals. Located just a few blocks
from Lake Michigan in one of Milwaukee's most attractive residential areas, the campus neighborhood is home to many faculty, staff and more
than 6,000 students. With the completion of the fourth tower of the Sandburg Residence Halls, more students have the option to live on campus
than ever before.
