The
College:
We are a community dedicated to the development
of wholeness in our students through adherence to a curriculum of academic excellence which balances the ideals of the liberal arts tradition
and sound professional preparation within a Christian atmosphere of self-discipline, responsibility, and concern for continuing growth of
the individual. With a full-time enrollment of about 1,100 students, Jamestown College offers a learning atmosphere in which students and
faculty come to know one another as individuals, not merely as names on seating charts or office doors.
Founded in 1883, Jamestown College is the first independent college in North
Dakota. It has a tradition that is rich in history but also in very significant accomplishments. Jamestown College's cost, before financial
aid is awarded, is about half the cost of many private, four-year colleges (which frequently exceed $20,000 - $30,000+ per year!) After financial
aid and scholarships are applied, the average net cost of attending Jamestown College is about the same as a 4-year public institution. Jamestown
College has led the way for other colleges and universities in this part of the country by introducing new programs and opportunities for
students that were "ahead of their time." For example, the college was the first institution in North Dakota to offer four-year
degree programs in teacher education and nursing.
