Chaminade University offers its students an education in a collaborative learning environment that prepares them for life, work and service. Guided by its Catholic,Marianist and liberal arts educational traditions, Chaminade encourages the development of moral character and personal competencies, and the commitment to build a just and peaceful society. The University offers the civic and church communities of the Pacific region its academic and intellectual resources in the pursuit of common aims.

The core curriculum at Chaminade University is liberal arts, with an emphasis on career preparation. Chaminade University is committed to a broad liberal education for its students because such an education provides the basis for long-term personal growth, a foundation for a career which may have many job changes as the workplace changes, and the background which will allow students to rise to leadership positions in their chosen fields and communities. The liberal arts core requirements account for fifty percent of the coursework of all Chaminade students seeking their bachelor's degrees. Chaminade University offers more than 20 major programs of study at the undergraduate level and six master's degree programs. The university takes pride in its pre-professional programs of study, and many graduates continue their education in medicine, law, and other professions. Chaminade is dedicated to teaching and to building the leadership skills of its students. Its major strengths lie in its relatively small size (averaging a 16 to 1 student-teacher ratio), and its talented faculty. Classes are small, allowing faculty members to provide a significant amount of individual and small-group attention to students. Teaching is done by professors or professionals in their fields, and not by graduate students.
